National Volleyball League

The National Volleyball League (NVL) is the top volleyball league in England for clubs.

Both the Wessex Men's and Women's teams are keen to attract new players that wish to play National League.

Week 20 Results

Week 20's games were played on April 10th 2012, this is the penultimate week of league matches this season.

In Division 1, Wessex B came from a set down and a slow start to the second set to defeat Sandbanks A 7-4 in the final set, win both their games in hand and go back to the top of the table with one game left. The winner of their game against Wessex C next week will be the champion. Sandbanks had the consolation of beating Spike Monkeys A in three sets to jump back to third place. They will play Wessex D next week with the winner sure of 3rd place.

KO Cup Winners 2011/2012

Congratulations to Wessex D and Wessex U16 Boys for winning this year's KO cup competitions (Div 1 and Div 2 respectively).

Wessex D beat Wessex C 25-20 21-25 7-1 in their semi-final and followed this with a two-set (25-24 25-21) victory over Sandbanks A to take the Division 1 cup.

In the Division 2 competition, Wessex U16 Boys beat Ashdown 25-21 25-4 and then Bournemouth Falcons 25-11 11-25 7-4 in their final.

Well done to both teams and thanks to everyone that took part in this year's competitions.

Trophies will be presented on April 17th 2012.

Week 19 Results

Week 19's games were played on the evening of Tuesday March 20th 2012.

In Division 1, leaders Wessex C dropped two points out of a possible eight by losing 7-6 in the tie break to Wessex D, who also beat Wessex A to jump to third in the table. Wessex C had earlier beaten Wessex A 2-0.

Week 18 Results

Week 18 was played on the night of Tuesday March 13th 2012 and saw changes at the top of all three division tables.

Week 17 Results

The games of Week 17 were played on the evening of March 5th, 2012. There are just five weeks left.

In Division 1 this week, Wessex A won both their games against Wessex B 2-0 and Sandbanks A 2-1 to move up a place. Wessex B had earlier beat Sandbanks A in the first match. Wessex B's defeat means they are 7 points clear and can be overtaken if Wessex C win both their games next week.

Week 16 Results

In Week 16, played on February 21st 2012, the teams in first and second places in Division 1, Wessex B and Wessex C, played each other for the penultimate time (the last time will be the last game of the season on April 17th). Wessex C won in two sets (25-17 25-17) to close the gap to only three points with five games left each. In the other game, Sandbanks A secured their grip on third place with a two-set victory over Wessex D. The other game between Wessex A and Spike Monkeys A has been postponed until April 3rd.

Week 15 Results

In Division 1 this week, Wessex B beat Spike Monkeys A and came back from a comfortable first set loss to beat Wessex D 7-3 in the third set to reclaim their place at the top of the table, 5 points clear of Wessex C. Those two teams play each other in a fortnight. Wessex D moved up to fourth with a win against Spike Monkeys A.

Week 14 Results

In week 14 (games played January 31st 2012), Wessex C defeated Sandbanks A and Wessex A to climb back to the top of the Division 1 table by 3 points, although longtime leaders Wessex B play their games in hand next week. Sandbanks A beat Wessex A in the other game to keep hold of 3rd place.

In Division 2, Wessex E won a potentially crucial match against Wessex U16 Boys by a comfortable margin and both teams are now 2nd and 1st in the table, with the Boys in front thanks to their extra games and a win against Ashdown.
